The Shrike

The Shrike is our longest serving design. Having been around since the very beginning it is now in its 5th generation and is our best selling knife for a reason.

In 2016 the Shrike was born, literally the product of necessity, it also birthed Ironside Edge Works as a brand. Designed by Gavin during his tenure as a combatives instructor and during the research phase for The Maul book, the Shrike is a well refined product of that development which can be found in all corners of the world from Finland to Mexico, from the Philippines to USA. The Shrike is a companion of civilian and professional alike.

The Shrike is designed to be a Pikal style knife, which for those who are unfamiliar, is intended to be held tip down in reverse grip, with the primary edge facing the user. The methedology is to stab and rip backwards against that primary edge. The result being deep, long wound channels in soft tissue and a serious damage capability. The Pikal methodology is also relatively simplistic and well suited for Self Defence and close combat.

The blade of the Shrike is just shy of 3″ in length, intended to be short enough that it is easy to conceal carry and access under duress for most people, but long enough to do the required damage. Designed originally as a double edge blade, with the secondary edge being only 3/4 of the spine length, the Shrike can be customised to be a single edge variant if needed.

The handle of the Shrike is designed with a weight bias that puts the centre of gravity in the palm of the hand. This gives the Shrike a solid feeling in the hand, which blended with the superb ergonomics mean

that the Shrike fits your hand like a glove. Being designed for concealed carry, the handle is free from snag points to best facilitate accessing from concealment under duress.

The Shrike can be mounted and carried both OWB or IWB, or even vest mounted if you’re a professional who requires it. The sheath comes with your choice of DCC 5.1 HLR Clip, or a Soft Loop set, but can also be fitted with any other mounts that take DCC spacing.

The Shrike is a formidable Defensive Knife that is well established with both civilian dan professional users, and the perfect companion for someone needing an effective defensive weapon and aesthetically appealing knife.
