The Requiem was the first ever special project we made in limited numbers, in 2018. These special knives were made as a tribute and only 10 pieces + 2 studies were ever made. The original Requiem represented a lot of firsts for us. It was the first Tsukamaki knife we made which featured a end fitting and especially became the concept which pushed our Tsukamaki handle to the point it is now. It did however always feel a bit unfinished because of that.
Our Tsukamaki handle’s have evolved and become some of the most recognisable handles in our corner of knife making. The Requiem final revision updates these knives and gives them a full handle which they always deserved. We have also decided to complete these knives in Aogami #2 steel. One of our favourite, rare Japanese steels.
The blade is a striking Pikal design, with a short secondary edge and recessed ricasso area. A slim and slender blade with a subtle inward curve. Finished in a highly polished classic blue, it is worth of its name. The Requiem comes with its own matching Trainer and hand pressed index sheath with two mounting options in the form of a DCC 5.1 HLR Clip or Soft Loops.
Early buyers of the Requiem Final Version were able to custom choose handle colours and materials, however for these last few remaining pieces we have standardised handle choices to our classic Tsukamaki line below. These versions will also ship in standard packaging and without the presentation boxes of the early bird buy-ins.
Gaijin:
