The Ronin Tsukamaki series is our mid tier level for Tsukamaki handles. Ronin Knives offer a higher level of finishing on both the blades as well as handle fittings, with more exotic materials and a wider range of tuskaito and samegawa colour options.
The Ronin Tsukamaki range makes use of either Satin Blued or Mirror Blued blade finishes, and also incorporates etched Hamon’s with the inclusion W2 steel blades. Handle materials range from Carbon Fiber to buffalo horn, bone and titanium, with metal liners for added colour. The Ronin Tsukamaki knives are wrapped in the traditional methods, very tightly using Silk or leather Tsukaito and washi paper hishigami so that they are functional and usable for EDC. Although you could also lacquer or resin coat the handles, this is a choice we leave up to the user.
Ronin Shrike’s are free hand ground from thick stock 80CRV2 or W2 in either the “standard” 1 & 3/4 edge configuration or a single edge with swedge, favouring the Pikal orientation heavily.Long time followers will know that the Shrike is out flagship knife, and the original design we began with, now in its 5th generation, it is near perfect in our opinion as a defensive knife capable of dealing with almost anything put in its path. A hallmark of all our blades is the thick steel stock which helps us to produce a robust blade tip. We like a knife that can drive through tougher materials and not be hindered when encountering harder organic materials like bone, or parts of clothing like buckles, zips and metal snaps.
The Shrike is also ergonomically considered and is indexed for use in the Pukal grip, with the tip aligning perfectly with the knuckles of the hand, making targeting feel natural. The handle is not too long, fitting fully in most hands to ensure minimal risk of snagging on clothes during accessing, and reducing the possibility of injuring yourself during stripping actions.
Shrike SH237 is a striking example of a Ronin Shrike, reminiscent of a Green Mamba, this knife is sure to invoke the protective qualities of the famed serpent. Ground in a rare single edge with swedge configuration and satin blued for a silky soft appearance, the blade is dressed with carbon fiber fittings, Black lacquered samegawa, and Midori (Green) silk tsukaito giving it the likeness of the snake. It comes with our Tier 1 style Kydex Sheath which can be fitted out with Soft Loop for OWB mounting or DCC HLR Clips for IWB mounts.
