The Obscura takes our best selling model, The Shrike, and turns it into something a little different. Covert, or NPE tools are nothing new these days, and behind the obvious covert nature of the Shrike Obscura it has other more conventional benefits too.
First its extremely light weight. The Obscura weighs almost nothing having been made from 5mm thick G10. This material is more commonly used as handle scales on knives, but its properties lend it to “last ditch” tools like this. The “Blade” unlike a traditional steel blade in that it typically doesn’t hold a sharp edge for very long, but can definitely still cut. Although its mainly going to be used for stabbing – and that it does plenty well enough. The “blade” has been ground with a single asymmetric bevel, ensuring the point is robust enough to penetrate organic mediums, as well as some of the other typical material you may encounter in a defensive situation, such as clothing.
The handle has been given a simple, yet still very elegant Tsukamaki wrap with silk Tsuka ito in 3 colour variants, which is resin sealed. This keeps it light, but is still extremely grippy and comfortable in hand. The Obscura has been finished with a non-metallic kydex sheath, which makes use of a static line cord for accessing.
This is a great lightweight and low-cost option for a defensive EDC tool.
