Named after a legendary Spanish Fighting Bull, the Ratón is one of the newest models to join our regular line up and is inspired by the horn of the fearsome, legendary bull…
Ratón the bull, is one of the only fighting bulls in history to have died of old age instead of in the ring, his fame was notable for his ferocity and he is credited with the deaths of 2 Matadors, and goring over 30 others in his career. The knife is no less formidable. The blade is profiled and shaped with a gentle curve, double edged, and tapers to a fine, but robust point. The knife is intended to be used in Pikal orientation, but is also fully comfortable in forward grip due to the very neutral handle shape. On the larger side, the Ratón still remains concealable and comfortable for EDC, though is probably better suited to those with medium to larger hand sizes.
Ratón number 005 is only the 5th one we have ever made. Dressed in a Tsukamaki handle that makes it a handsome piece, and is paired with a Satin Antique finished blade, which is a finishing technique that gives the blade an aged appearance. The handle is built up on a G10 base which blends well into the black / brown buffalo horn fittings – which have very subtle streaks of white in them too – and have been polished to a mirror finish. The panel is traditional Japanese Samegawa, a rawhide stingray skin that we have lacquered to a Crimson appearance. Lastly, the wrap is completed with traditional Silk Tsukaito.
Our Tsuakamki is wrapped in the traditional style with hishigami and is executed extremely tightly and ready to use for practical EDC. This knife if finished with a fold over style Kydex Sheath and can be fitted out with Soft Loop or DCC HLR Clip mounts.
The Ratón is a rare and elegant knife that is both formidable and great looking with an elegant that echos is brutality. Make this one yours today!
