The Archangel is our foray into the defensive Wharncliffe style knife. Deviating from our traditional Pikal models, the Archangel is now in its 2nd Generation, and offers users a formidable forward grip defensive EDC knife!
The Wharncliffe, to the uninitiated, may seem like an unlikely contender for an effective defensive knife. Popularised by Michael Janich of Martial Blade Concepts, and famed designer of the Spyderco Yojimbo, the wharncliffe offers users serious cutting power from the straight edge. The Archangel makes use of this extreme cutting power in its design and couples it with the robust frame of 80Crv2 steel. While it may not seem obvious, the design is also very capable of piercing and thrusting. The flat spine forces the edge into the cut, essentially helping it glide effortlessly through organic materials.
AK008 is a Custom Archangel, the first of our 2nd Generation versions, that is available for direct sale. The blade has been done with a Satin Blued finish and is paired with our famous Tsukamaki style handle. The handle is built up on a black G10 liner with satin polished Carbon Fiber fittings. The Samegawa is antiqued to give an aged appearance, and the wrap is completed with our new Nando (light blue) silk Tsuka-ito. All our Tsukamaki handles are finished with hishigami and wrapped extremely tightly, and although these are NOT resin sealed we feel it is not necessary for function, and keeps the bright colours of our silk ito looking good.
The Archangel is sheathed in a full style Kydex sheath which can be fitted with your choice of mounting on the DCC compatible hole spacing.
